Hi Bazz...My mom rescued me 4 yrs ago. I used to be a strappy young fella in the hunter/jumper world, but now my mom and I do trails. When we lived in California I liked to wander thru the wine vineyards. Now we\'re in Virginia, boy it\'s hot and muggy here. The \"cool\" bathes are cool till mom get\'s water on my face - don\'t like that. I\'m brave around lots of things - horse eating rabbits fear me, and I learned to like plastic bags cuz they always have treats!!!! I even smile for food. And my fly mask shows how cool I really am. I start fashion trends at the stables.

I was born wild but was pretty friendly when girl approached me at a BLM adoption. Her mom thought I was a stud.. and said she could not have me. The girl cried and BLM said I was a gelding so mom said I could come home with them.
I was Dads horse and we had a lot of fun together until Dad died (I know it is true because mom was crying when she told me.) Now I am Beths horse and thats cool because she picked me out. I am learning to be a good boy wearing a saddle so we can ride together.
Mom says I am a bit of a trouble maker opening gates and doing the limbo so I can sneak some extra feed, but she says she will never sell me.

Symphony Solstice

I was born running free and captured as a yearling. After spending a year in BLM corrals with a bunch if other fillies I saw a lady at an adoption who crouched down to watch the horses in my pen. I looked at her through the other horses legs and decided to meet her. She started off offered me one just one finger and since it didn\\\'t seem all that scary, I let her tickle me with it. IT FELT GOOD! So I let her scratch me a bit and started following her along the fence. She left me there but came back the next day to take me home saying I haunted her dreams.
We have been together for 6 years and I\\\'m happy. I have a yard with other horses and I get to be the boss of them. My mom even lets me make some rules for her to follow.
There are a lot of things that I still do not think are good food for a mustang to eat, but I get lots of good hay, and carrots so life is good. So good my nickname is FattButt.
My favorite part of having a human is clean teats! Boy they get so itchy it drives me nuts! But I just let mom know and she cleans them right up for me.

Hi Bazz, I am the lucky horse who is now taking care of Big Joes mum. She says I am very handsome but I am not so sure: I know my ears are a bit small.

Im a fun guy and I like to do anything, really, especially eat. My mum says Im trustworthy so she lets me take her for walks and pop over little jumps. I didnt use to enjoy going round in circles much but it makes mum happy and she says Im really good at it, so Im starting to like it better.

Wasup there my bro? Im Shiloh and man the way youve got it, sometimes I wish it could be that way for me! I do it all, challenge the cows, jump the jump, and thats kinda it...Well a long time ago I was a fiesty lil thang but then I went somewhere and woke up and I hurt, nothing changed really, just hurt. And just recently, I went to the same place and woke up feeling naked! What happened to me? I live in Hamerica and my girl is Chick, my owners friends horse, man that quarter chocolate palomino is some fine stuff! But we arent allowd to have any kids and I dont know why. But whenever your owner gives you a bath, try drinking the fuzzy liquid in the bucket. Its delicious! I love it when I get to jump and show off to the girls. Hello! My name is babe and im a sorrel solid paint horse. And im a real diva. I live on a small farm in Connecticut. My only other equine friend is Lacie, shes a black quarter horse. Right now i have to stay in a small turnout so my knee will heel. Well what happened is i hurt my knee in a trailer and i needed surgery to take out the bone chips. But i feel much better now. Something i dont feel i get fed enough of are alfalfa cubes i LOVE those guys oh and Wheat Thins those are delicious! Theres not much to say about myself so im going to end. Ta ta for now folks!

I\'m Gaston and I gotta tell you, I met the scarriest thing EVER!!! My mom and I were out walking a month and a half ago and there was this human. He was riding the freakiest 4-wheeled, loud, obnoxious, hissing beast I have ever seen. They came storming at me so fast I just swung around and tried to bolt - you know the feeling right? Anyway that stupid beast made me freak out and know I\'m stuck in my stall with a hurtin\' leg. The doc says it\'s the meniscus and I can\'t work for about a year, SWEET!!! the only downside is I can\'t go outside with my mares, but at least I don\'t have to get wet when it rains and I get spoiled a little in the food department if you know what I mean.

Hi I\'m Lightning Bolt, although I go by LB, although mom calls me Elburs because she thinks the other two are too common. I\'m the light of her life, and she knows it. I was a ugly mess when I came to her, but she\'s prettied me all up and now I\'m the best little donkey around. I went to the States horseshow for 4H my first time out, and everyone thinks I\'m awesome for that. I can do everything the big horses can, just on a smaller scale. Mom says it melts her heart when I cry for her when she comes into the barn, but I do it because I know I\'ll get extra kisses. I\'ll wiggle my nose if I want a kiss, and I love pop ices and fritos. My new mum sadly lost her horse late last year - Diamond Jade and I was the only horse she tried out. I really like my new home.

Mum said its really hard to get a good photo of me because my head is a different colour to my body and it looks odd in a photo - I think I\'m pretty sexy really with my lovely coloured coat.

I\'m teaching mum to ride western and we hope to do lots of treking together. I\'ve got some odd paddock mates too - Charlie (the giraffe who is 17hh) and Brechan Bach Perri (the gnome is only 11.2hh).

Guess what? I\'m a Thoroughbred too (as far as I\'m concerned, the only breed) and I live in Oz - up near the big banana! I used to live down in this place called Taree, with my boyfriend Ally; but I\'ve left there now and I\'m happily single (I\'ve gotten over my heartbreak).
I raced when I was a filly, and though I\'m fast enough to win, I didn\'t try - so I ended up as a girl\'s riding horse! I did mainly showjumping with her. Now I\'m with my new mum, who is training me up for eventing - fun!
I live with two other horses - another TB called Gemma (who really, really hates me!) and a ASH called Cally (who is pregnant - due in 8 days!).
I get ridden 1 or 2 a day, and I really enjoy it! You should come and live up with me, Bazz, then you might enjoy being ridden too!
The one problem is, when it rains, we can\'t go riding. Apparently my mum is thinking of getting an indoor paddock for riding! Except there\'ll be no grass :(
I often go in the moving stable, to this place with lots of other horses. There\'s an indoor paddock there, except there are horses on the walls! There\'s a sexy TB there called Peter, and he\'s already asked me out twice! Except, I\'m waiting to see if you\'re free.

I'm a big, beautiful bay and I live in Alabama - Heart of Dixie ya know. I spend my days on the farm munching in the pasture with my buddies. Mom comes to see me nearly every day and I always get a treat. I'm still trying to figure out why she wants me to these silly figure 8's in the ring - I thought she could count higher than that by now! Anyway, she loves me bunches and I enjoy going on the trail rides with her. I like to see her jump when I pretend to be scared of a rabbit! hehe... By the way, those bags of death are nothing - mom showed me that, but ya gotta watch out for those little boxes on posts - never know what might jump out and get ya. Hey Bazz- Love the site man- Cool to see so many hot fillies! I live with 5 other boys but they know who's boss! I used to have to do all sorts of silly show stuff ( I was really good!)but mom finally came to her senses and we just trail ride. (fast walk towards home too!)I also take care of her Pygmy ( he is actually my little brother so mom says I have to take care of him- bummer) That is him in my picture I really wanted to bite him but mom was watching...*sigh* But she took me away from stupid humans who didn't feed me so I guess I can put up with the pygmy for her. Virginia is a cool place to live. It doesn't get too cold and it gets dark early so I get to lounge around all week. I get lots of apples and carrots and sometimes peppermints- not too many as they make me a bit crazy. I also love diet coke and gatorade. My grandad is Dancing Brave, making my great gandaddy Northern Dancer, just like your good self. We certainly inherited some great looks.
I got a raw deal though and live in cold Scotland! I was bred to hurdle but I didn't reach the track because my mum bought me and she wants me to event or something weird like that. I would have been a great legend though I am sure. Now that my Mum is backing me I like to show her in the field just how super fast I can go and still buck at the same time!!

My mum says that I am her baby, but she forgets that I am nearly 5 years old and so I can't really still be her baby, can I? But as long as she continues to treat me like her baby I don't really mind 'cos the treatment is pretty bluddy good all 'round! I am starting to be ridden at the moment, and I am going to be "the best bluddy endurance horse in the world" according to Mum. My daddy is the current best bluddy endurance horse in the world so I have got a lot to live up to. Such pressure! I don't mind being the best bluddy whatever in the world, but having to run 160km in under 9 hours is gonna to be a tough call. But if daddy can do it, I spose I can too. I know that you won't really like this idea Bazzy, but we can't all be paddock paintings like you. It's a tough job, but someone has to do it!

I have had a rough life and I was so happy when my human found me !!! I was unfortunate to fins myself with some one that only wanted me because of my beauty, but they seemed to forget that i need to eat and stuff so I was basically starved. We were walking around the arena (indoor) minding our own business, mom did not have her attention on ME, as grandma was there to visit me and chat w/ mom....So to get her attention, I stepped left really fast.. and mom (I'm trying not to laugh), feel off me, and hit the ground HARD, she screamed for grandma, saying she could not move....I WAS SO SCARED that I broke my mom... Some lady grabbed me and to me to my cross ties... grandma untacked me, and Dan the barn owner to me right out side.... Mom was crying alot... She went to the doc's and the doc said she was luck she break every bone in her rear end... Since then mom rarley comes to see me and I over heard her talking about finding a dead broke horse.... Sure hope she don't mean, me to be dead.... What can I do to get mom here more???

Oh my Sassy, what ya done babe? My Dad came off me a couple of weeks ago and landed on his back and he was hurt but he's ok now. I think maybe your mom has lost her confidence a little. Doesn't mean she's scared of you just maybe a bit worried you might do it again.
I'm always shying and jumping when my dad rides me so he's sort of use to it, but they say your not really a good rider until you have fallen off heaps. If you have never come off your just sitting on it.
Maybe your Mum can spend some time doing some ground work with you to re-build some trust both ways. I think she should try riding you a little though, and if she does you should behave otherwise she might sell you and you don't want that eh?

I am smallest but fastest in my entire herd (only 3 horses and me). I am not saying that I am faster than you, just am fastest in my herd, just like you. I am not racehorse, but I will be barrel racer someday...but you will be faster than me anyway. Mum got me jump over the fence, only 2?3? or so, so easy. Then, I jump it over with no problems. Mum think I will make a good jumping horse in the future as I am only 2 years old now. Mum want to tell you that she loves your blog...and I do too!

Hey Bazz, Mom says you have scads more horse pictures on the hot to trot page so you need another donkey or 2 or 3. I live in West Virginia with that jennet Arco featured here, my brother and best bud Nightly, my dad and 12 other donkeys. I was going to be mom's next super star following in my dad's hoofprints but mom said I was shooting blanks, a dud as a stud, so I got my bits cut off. This is my "jacks behaving badly" photo. Mom and I were doing a demo at a big horse expo and to keep my lily white ass clean mom hadn't let me roll in THREE DAYS!! I really wanted to roll in the arena and when mom wouldn't let me I had a little hissy fit. Mom said if there wasn't all those people around we would have had a come to Jesus meeting over such unacceptable behavior but the crowd just thought it was part of the act, silly people!!! LOL LOL Mom doesn't cut patterns in my coat, she paints a big red kiss on my butt when we go out. Maybe so mom wont forget my name??? Hey Bazz, I'm Harley and I live in America. I love your site and so does my mom. She's really nice to me except when I get sassy then she gets kinda scary. Dad's ok too most of the time. I had him snookered for 7 months because I refused to get on the trailer so I got to stay in the pasture with my ladies and get fat. Well they had some guy come out to help them work with me and now I've decided it's easier to get on the trailer and do my job. Mum says I'm a bit of a sook and I don't really like it when she makes me look like an idiot with my head nice, I prefer if I can sniff the breeze whilst we are going along, you know get my head up as high as I can but my new mum is showing me the errors in my ways and how you can look really nice (Yeah right) and that its easier for me to move if I go nicely (hello if I was supposed to go with my head like that wouldn't I do it all the time? Hi Bazz,
my name is Gemma (though my human insists on calling me a wide variety of strange nicknames). In my racing days I was called Santos Gem. I only raced in one race, as I was kicked out because I was too fast (wtf? Too FAST?? I can never understand people!). For the rest of my life I have been a riding horse, doing mainly dressage and trail riding. At the moment I live near the BAnana COast and my diet consists mainly of prize bananas :D I share a paddock with bossy-boots CAlypso. She is my best friend, though she does get annoying at times. I can jump about 1m 60cm and the fanciest thing I can do is a canter pirouette.
My favourite thing in the world is reading your hilarious diary entries and gazing at your pictures for hours on end :D
My human is too big for me now, so she's finding me a suitable hubby...well, actually, she found one. He is a warmblood stallion, no where near as handsome as you, but I guess I'll get used to him!

Like you Bazz, I was a racehorse. but not the best one. They took from Englad to France to race, but came last as I didn't know what they were saying. Was then sold to a riding school, were they worked me very hard.
Thats were my mum found me and took me home. I have a great life. don't do much work, waited on hand and hoof. I have her soooooooooo wrapped round my hoof.I have to sometimes do this thing called showjumping, which I think is great. She is not to happy as I go round at top speed and she can't stop me.
Can you see what she makes me wear? When she first put it on she couldn't stop laughing, so I farted in her face.

Hi Bazz -- Dude, I used to live with my human mom, my real mom, Sunny and Odysseus until like I was thrown into a scary noisy box and then I was at a DIFFERENT PLACE and like it so scared the BEJEEZUS out of me. and a lot of poop. i ran around and cried for a couple of days. and like, i just got over it dude it was like i'm so brave or something.
now they say i am green. but they used to say i was sorrel. so i guess you change colors when you move to a different place?
my human mom comes to visit but my FAVORITE ALL TIME HUMAN is this cool dude who is teaching me all sorts of stuff and he gets on my back and WE DANCE!!!! IT IS SO MUCH FUN!!! and pretty soon they say i will get my own TUTU. Dude, that would be so freakin' cool i would wet my pants. if i had pants.
my human mom gets on my back too but she is no where close to being a good dancer but she keeps promising she will improve. so i haven't tried to buck her off. yet.

I'm all black, with a star and a hint of grey that my owner says gives me "character." I think age is just a number, I get to eat tons of grass all year round, even though it snows here in the states. I'm a former western pleasure world champion, but I'm not bragging.. just letting you know I'm kind of a big deal. Now I do everything with my owner including jumping, trail rides, dressage. I like to behave for little kids, but as soon as my owner gets on, I know it and I give her a hard time. If we're in a field and she gives me a little bit of slack in the reins I'll reach down for a nibble or seven. Sometimes, when I'm really feeling naughty I'll let all of the guys out of the paddock and we have contests to see who can find the best patch of grass. Or I'll go down the road to visit with the fat pony, I like her. I'm recently engaged to a mare, 11 years younger. She's my everything, she stayed at our farm on vacation for a couple weeks. She's black like me, a little taller- like a model. She's also a Morgan, beautiful like me. Luckily they put her out in my field (its all men too..), and we hit it off. She played hard to get at first, I'd come to eat grass with her and she'd have nothing to do with me... but we were eventually inseperable. Then one day the nasty moving box came and took her away. I know she'll come back for me. In the meantime I wait for the comforts of home, homegrown hay, sunday night branmash, running away from my owner when she trusts me enough to stand loose while she grabs something.. being good for the little kids (even though I do suspect one of them did try to suck my brains out.), smelling/knocking down everything within reach, demanding food, always waiting to pee after the ride, that way if i'm in a "bad mood" its because I had to go! rushing through jumps, being strong on a trail.... and the occaisional buck to throw them all off guard!

Well now, I'm a handsome fella, I've got knobby knees, a bum so high it towers over my head, and buggly eyes to boot! Yep, all the girls just LOVE ME.

See that picture there? See how mom's looking at me, so fixatedly? Yeah, She's praying I'm not going to buck her off. That's where I got my name. It started off as Johnny, but over time, it became a warning, Johnny! Be Good! So it stuck.

My mom's mate is more my type of people. He doesn't bug me too much and rarely asks me to do more than a slow walk. Mom on the other hand LOVES tormenting me... I like to remind her who's boss, just two weeks ago i bucked her off and smushed up her ribs real good! Not to mention, I love leaving my famous trademark, my hoofprint off the fallen's inner thigh.

Hi Bazzy, you are such a hot studly guy! I wish you lived near me. Well, I have Toby as my friend. He's a good guy and we get along great, though the other two mares can be down on him a lot. He doesn't deserve that.

But onto me. I was abused when I was younger, so I really don't trust people. Where I'm at now has been great for years and I feel pretty comfortable. I still sometimes feel I will be hit by them, even though they never have and always take care to be slow and patient. I just can't get over it. I was a jumper for awhile and despite my height and funny conformation I could clear 3' jumps! Amazing! No one would believe it without seeing it. I'm retired now though. Sometimes the horse eating pygmies ride me, and it's not so bad. They give me treats afterwards. I guess there's a lot of horses that would kill for the posh life of food everyday, irrigated pasture, a warm stall...it has been worse.

I've had a couple babies, I kind of miss them. Nursing sucked. But it's nice to be carefree. If you're ever around here, be sure to look me up. I'd be happy to have you vacation in the stall next to me! :oD

I'm Maddie, and I have to brag that I come from National champions in every generation of my pedigree for quite a ways back. I'm very proud of my lineage and my exotic good looks. I'm the lovely bay in the picture; the sabino flaxen chestnut is my first baby, though we don't look our best because it was winter and had just rained. But mom said something about really like the picture and the way the sun was, so she insisted it be used. My daughter and I were staring at those quacking flappers that poo on your head when they leave the pond. We didn't like them much, but now they are kind of an every day thing. Whatever. I'm prettier anyway.

Mom calls me a spookhead and hasn't ridden me since the brain-sucking-horse-eating-pygmies came along, but she mentioned the other day something about resuming training. Doesn't sound like a walk in the park. You look like you have fun with it though, so it can't be too bad, I suppose.

Hi Maddie, your a bit too close to that water be careful, you could fall into a 100ft waterhole if your not careful and be trapped there for ever and then the cockroaches will blow all over your head and climb in your ear holes and those flappy thing will poo on your head until only the tip of your ears can be seen. My queen pasture mate Toastie insisted I look at your site, and wow, I am impressed! Thanks for the laughs and honesty!

I am Toby, an Arabian and Saddlebred mix. 63% Arabian if you want to be technical. A lot of people ask if I'm a Morgan though, I guess I have a big neck and butt or something like that. Buuuttt, at least I guess that makes me more stallion-ish, and I need all the help in that area I can get. I like to be everyone's friend, except Maddie and Toastie take violent advantage of that and steal my food. I'm just a nice, easy-going guy!

My mom taught me lots of tricks, and I like get laughs from people. It makes me feel special. She's fair, we don't do dressage or anything like that (woe to the poor horses I've read about on here! It sounds dreadful!). We have fun on trails, and I love it. She says I'm the best, which makes me feel good. I just like life, I guess, even if the mares bite my butt when they are having a bad time of the month (ouch!).

The picture is of one of mom's horse eating pygmies. I've been with mom since I was a baby, so I'm pretty lenient with what she throws at me. Horse eating pygmies can be interesting, especially when they make squealing noises. I thought only mares did that. I swear that one will suck my brain through my nose someday, but she feeds me blackberries so it's a fine line trade.

The picture is of my third baby, my first warmblood, and me. I've had seven, with an eighth in the oven. Mom says I'm something of a hellwitch if I'm not pregnant or taking care of babies, so away to my blind date I went. I love my babies, they are so beautiful (like me!) and even win money on the track. My mom also says riding me is like being on a John Deere with Nitro, whatever that means. I think it might be good. Regardless, I'm am queen wherever I go. Period. And I expect to be treated as such. Period. When my mommy found me I was really skinny, and very angry all the time. But she gave me LOTS of wonderful food and attention, and now I'm good as new!

I'm a thoroughbred, too, but you wouldn't know from riding me. I'm as lazy as they come, and stubborn as can be. My favorite hobby is standing still, just swishing my tail while my silly Mommy tries every trick under the sun to get me to move. The trick is finding out exactly the moment that she's just about given up, and shooting forward suddenly. It's great fun! I'm always calm when they put the children on my back, though. They're too young to know any better. Plus, their legs can't reach me to kick me anyway, and their arms aren't strong enough to keep me from reaching down to get some grass.
My mommy tried to make me jump. She says thoroughbreds make great jumpers. I like to prove her wrong. I've torn down more jumps than you can shake a carrot stick at! I don't even lift my feet anymore, just plow right through them. You should try it some time!

Hi Bazzy, I'm Nike. I used to work as a lead pony on a racetrack, and racers like you were my very favorite! Not like those silly fools that wanted to run all the time! What's the point in that?
Well, now I live with my wonderful mommy, and I love it. Every once in a while they put pygmies on me and give what they call a "lesson". Really all it is is training the next generation in the army of horse riders. Mommy wants me to learn dressage, but she just can't figure out how to make me move. I'd really rather just stand around and eat. Unless of course another horse decides to pass me. Just because I'm the slowest doesn't mean I shouldn't be in front!
But now Mommy lives in a great place called "College". When she's there, she can hardly get a chance to ride me at all! I live the life of luxury being what mommy calls a "Lawn ornament". I have tons of fun getting really fat and eating all the grass i want.
Unfortunately now I have to share my cozy home with a stubborn thoroughbred mare and her daughter, Jazz. But even though I'm small, I'm still the alpha male....well....gelding.

I've seen a few of the local fox hunting guys here in Virginia - prancing around like they are soooo hot. NOT. I'm the head honcho around here and its my job to keep my little donkey friend Rosa from doing stupid things. She thinks she is moms favorite so I have to remind her to get out of the way when mom comes to see me. Mom doesn't like that for some reason. Don't tell any one, but I cry like a baby when Rosa visits her brother down the road. Mom and Dad say I am overweight and they don't give me near as much food as I know I should get. I need all of my energy to dodge many horse-eating dangers in this area. I hate spray bottles! The worst part of it is that my own mom keeps bringing those nasty things around. She seems to think I'll get over it. Hah!

I know what you're thinking. The bloke is having an identity crisis of a serious magnitude. But honestly, I'm not. I know I'm not a HORSE, don't be ridiculous. I am a Saluki, and we are the KING of canines. We are the companions of kings and royalty. (Well, I'm not, I live with my mom and dad and they say they're definitely not royalty because you have to be rich for that.) And we wouldn't ever dream of doing something like carrying a human. That would be beneath our dignity. Of course, my mom says I have no dignity yet. Hey, I've got my danglies, what more does a dog need? Okay, I admit, I don't quite have the "stare of eagles" thing down yet, but I'm working on it. Even more, my heritage is pure Arabian. No, I wasn't born there, I was born in the USA where I live with my humans, 7 more like me, and 3 that aren't even close. But get this. Way way back in the olden days, MY kind would ride on YOUR kind with the humans. How do you like that???? But, that was then and this is now.

I had to tell ya, racing sounds just about as bad as what MY mom puts me through. We do something called "Showing", but it's nothing near as exciting as racing. This showing is really stupid. And I have to get a baf, then brushed, then mom does something she calls "grooming" - she trims some of my hair near my "boyz" and a few other places. I hold *extremely* still when she's got those pointy sharp things near my danglie bits I can tell you. One slip and...well, that's too gruesome a thought so we'll just skip that part. Then, she gets out the evil toe rippers of doom and cuts my toenails. I try to hold really still for that too so she doesn't accidently cut off one of my toes. That would be seriously bad because I do have very pretty feet. Well, all of me is really handsome. From my toes up, I am a GORGEOUS example of what a saluki should be. (Okay, Mom made me write that part, or she was gonna kick me off the computer.) After all the grooming, then we have to drive somewhere, sometimes for hours and hours. Once, we drove for days and days. And after alll that, we goto a place called a show site. This is a place where the humans have made little squares using these little fences...which they won't even let us jump - how boring is that? Then, when mom says it's our turn, we go in, stand, run around the ring, let a stranger come up and pet us all over, look at our teeth, check out the danglie bits, and then we have to run in a line away from and back to the stranger, then we run in a circle again and Mom gets a ribbon. (I think its really a field sobriety test. I heard that phrase on the news last week, and thought, "so THAT's what they mean." It seems pretty similar actually.) I did all the work, and I don't get nothing. Well, Mom gives me treats, so that parts okay. And, while we are away from home Mom let's me sleep in bed with her. Just me. At home I have to share it with two of the girls and Dad too. I can stretch way out and Mom says I can't take my half out of the middle and she scoots me back over. Can't blame a guy for trying though.

But still, doesn't racing sound an awful lot like what I do? I can't see the point to it myself. Mom's always saying it's fun, and I'm doing extremely well for a baby, but I still don't get it. WHAT am I doing??? Well, whatever I am doing, I must be doing it well because Mom is extremely happy when we do it. And if that's all it takes to get her to keep giving me those really yummy treats, well, it's easy enough work. Sometimes she even gets out the squeaky toy and lets me try to kill it. Now that's alot of fun.

Oh, and speaking of fun. If you CHASE those bags, it's way more fun. Mom sometimes ties one on a string and pulls it around and I love to chase it. She lets me catch it too, and then I show it who is boss by killing it. Honestly, they're really easy to kill. Grab it, and shake it. All there is too it.

Hey Bazz, I used to be a racehorse, too. I am really fast but I didn't like sharing the track with the other horses, so I just said "eff this" and pretty soon my owner did too. Now I live in Virginia and do three day eventing, although I prefer straight showjumping because DRESSAGE IS GAY and I don't like the water complexes on cross country. They smell like the Loch Ness Monster. Even when my mom gets mad and kicks the crap outta me and uses four letter words, I have to stop and check to make sure the Monster is sleeping. My mom says that she is going to take me foxhunting so I get over my "water issue." As if I am dumb enough to follow another horse to my death? Please.
In showjumping, I like to go fast and jump high. I'm quite handy and my mom and I make very tidy turns and beat the big, cloddy imported warmbloods with their stupid brands on their butts (Not unlike your new boyfriend Jacko, I might add.). Wheeeeeeeeeeee! Look at me jump!

My mom really loves me, no one knows why, I mean I know why, it's because I'm perfect, except I dont like doing anything. When I used to be boarded inside, I would go over to the horse in the next stall and open my mouth really wide and show off that I got a treat. But now I am stuck in a pasture with two Lippizan mares who whinny and gallop in distress when I leave. Bazz, I live in California, but I swear we are brothers separated at birth. We dont have some of the scary stuff here that you have there. Whoa, marsupials! We do have scary bags here, but, they are only scary once the carrots have been removed. I like to eat too, like all the time. Id never seen a barrel race in slo-mo, cool, you can really appreciate your form. I won a race once, I am still terrified of small people in bright shirts. Like you, all the fillies at the barn flirt with me, I guess they all like tall dark and handsome, huh? Dressage is not gay if you act like it is a rodeo...just a tip.

Hi from sunny (more like freezing) Wales! I am a very handsome shetland pony. I am also the herd leader so I dont take any nonsense! Mum bought me two months ago to be a companion pony. She says that basicly means race horse! I am blue and white so very special. I am also very clever and have worked out how to get out of my paddock. Barge through the big bush around the paddock it also makes mums life a nightmare trying to groom me!

I used to be a racehorse but the stupid trainers only tried that 4 times before I retired to the lap of luxury at age 3. I have this real sucker of a woman who does not make me show which is great even though I do like our cross country gallops now and then. I am really cranky, I snap at the air all of the time and tell everyone I am MAD (even though I am not, its all a show). I am the boss mare and I LOVE it. Oh and when I am in heat, I am quite amorous ;).

My name is Mubashirah and I live in Virginia w/ an emu called Puff Daddy. He is my very best friend. My mom calls me Bashirah for short though. She calls Puff Daddy other names, depending on what he is doing that is naughty. There is nothing worse than a naughty emu, she says.

She lives in Virginia, too. She gives me carrots and peppermints if I am a very good girl (which I usually am).

When I grow up I think I am going to be a competitive trail horse and maybe try some endurance, too. I dont know what that is exactly, but I hear that there could be carrots involved, so I am all for it in that case.

Dude, I want to be a racehorse too, but my silly mom keeps telling me I'm not supposed to race the jumping poles (how clueless ??). Doesn't matter though, I'm sooo loved I get away with anything (she even gives me loads of treats :P).
When it comes to jumping, I'm the best: I clear 4.3 ft jumps easily, sometimes so literally that I leave no poles alive in my wake!
I think you have style, so what about ruling the world with me?? No matter what mom believes, I didn't get a pharaoh's name for anything...

Hi, Bazz. You're probably looking at my name and thinking, "How do you pronounce that?" It's OK. I'm used to it. My name is Dutch, and it's pronounced VEET-skuh. I was imported (put into one of those flying machines humans use) from the Netherlands to the United States when I was a yearling. I don't race, but I don't mind watching others race, and I admire those of you that do. Every once in awhile I get the urge to run, but it usually doesn't last long. I was living a nice, quiet life as a broodmare for most of my life until this spring, when I got a new Mom. She's doing that Parelli stuff with me now. I don't really mind it, except I get a little confused about some things. She also started putting this big piece of leather on my back called a saddle, and then she gets on my back and makes me move around! I never had to do that before. I don't mind it too much, 'cause I love the attention, but I don't really care for exercise. She got hurt a month ago at a Parelli clinic she took me to by another horse, so she hasn't been doing much with me since. She got hurt pretty bad. I heard she got a broken rib, lacerated liver, and ruptured kidney. Humans are so fragile. I'm being extra gentle with her, so she'll get better and be able to continue grooming me, and giving me grain. I love my grain! Take care of your humans, too! They may get tiresome at times, but you'd miss them if they were hurt bad.

Hi! I was a racehorse, too, when I was younger. I had to stop when my owner worked me too hard and I bowed a tendon, though. I have a new home now. I'm starting to think that they maybe aren't as bad as my previous owners were. I'm able to relax a little now, and I don't get hurt by them! They do that Parelli stuff, too. I don't really know what to think about it. I was really scared they were going to kill me with that carrot stick thing when they first brought it out, but I'm still OK so far. We'll see, I still don't entirely trust them... They bred me to this great, black Arabian stallion this year that I liked a lot. I was sad to leave his barn. :( It'll be great when I have a foal next summer, though!

Hi Faroh Man I can so relate. I use to hang mine low until the little accident, now I try and keep it up all the time. It was hanging low one day and I saw Cherry over the other side of the paddock, it hit a rock and I pole vaulted into the air, right over the top of the water tanks. Scared the life out me and I ended up walking funny for a week :)

I can't take it! You got a post from the most arrogant whiny horse around - Jaguar Hope. I don't know why my Mom likes him so much. I keep telling him he's a woosey sissy pants. I'm her guy! My Mom did a cool thing and helped me with a weird hoof problem - she called it white line disease but i never saw a white line. It just hurt a whole lot! I'm all better now and she will only take me on the trail rides. We run the sand dunes and I let her know how cool I was on the race track! I'm her main guy...OK - so i didn't win much but I did win (twice...) and Mr. Prospecter was my Grandaddy - who cares that the other nose picker (Jaguar Hope) had Alydar as his Grandaddy!

My name is Alphy but a lot of time Mum calls me The Noodle. She also calls me PerfectAndWonderfulInEveryWay and ElMejorCaballoEnTodoDelMundo. Mum used to know your relative Indiba - his dad was Danehill too. Somthing happened with the Sky Of Light. She doesnt talk about it anymore. I'm her No.1 feller now she says. Not hard to see why. I'm far sexier and more intelligent than the other two in my paddock.
Missing mum right now. I'm at my uncle Robbies place. Mum sometimes calls him 'my trainer' whatever that is. I reckon he's great cause he gives me carrots and apples every day which mum hardly never does. Anyway all my buddies are sniffin and coughin right now and I'm not allowed home. I have been with my people since four months old. Mom calls me beautiful, sweetness, and baby girl.
I don't care what they call me as long as the work is easy and the livin' is good...and includes LOTS of peppermints.
Sometimes, we go to the beach. The sand is great, but I KNOW sharks and other nasty things live in the water. If water was good for horses, we'd be born with gills and fins.

You better watch those mares of yours, they sure can't resist this pure Irish charm! The humans love me too, and I sure don't mind prancing around the dressage ring with my people and showing off my moves. My mum used to take me cross country a bunch too and I loved it! 4 foot fences were my specialty. But now that I'm a bit older she thinks we should slow down a little, PFFT. Silly humans!

Hey Bazz, I'm Nahlah from Canada. My mom likes to make me do all sorts of rediculous things like spins in circles and gallop real fast only to stop even faster! We even chase cows around really fast and make them listen to me (but I like doing that a lot.) But she says I've won enough ribbons now so i'm retired.
I have a favor to ask. She's moving to australia next year, can you keep an eye on her and make sure she doesn't fall in love with any other horses?
She trains out here and I get jelouse enough when I see her riding horses around here...but the thought of her travelling over seas for new horses...well thats just too much for me.
And now she says that while she's gone i'll be living with grandma, by the ocean, and teaching pygmies to ride. HELP! I hate little people!

I am a welsh cob dressage superstar at my barn in Kentucky (we have lots of great thoroughbreds too who retired before they ever hit the track!) but I was born in Oregon. I got mum when I was four, and we've been together ever since. She thinks I'm just the best despite me being occasionally snarky when she doesn't do something right. I like the dressage gig (and I get to learn all sorts of new tricks), but I love to go out and gallop and Kentucky isn't that bad, except for the cold days. Ugh... I wish mum would just go to Florida. But that's a different tail.

Helllllooo Hamerica!!! Mine didn't take quite that long to figure out racing isn't my thing. I mean I can run but my owners kept getting the enquiry stuff cos I was like 100 lengths ahead all the time so they thought it was less stress to just not race me at all. You are believing this right?

Just thought you deserved a shout out from the great state of Texas! I mostly mosey around a huge pasture all day with my posse of German warmbloods. They may tower over me, but they know who's boss hoss in that pasture.
When my mom wanders back from her college campus, she usually forces me to do dressage, but on days when her professors have really run her down; she'll usually take me out to the pasture for a gallop! I made my mom send a photo of me totally whipping an oxer into shape.

Hi I'm Dickens. I am a wimp. I don't like to get dirty, don't like to work (canter maybe a little to slow), scared of indoor arena's, and terrified of being rode in the dark. But I will let those nasty little nose picking pygmie's ride me. So much fun when you do just the littlest hop and put your head down. They slide right down your neck. Great times. I also like to pick on the mares that are in the pasture with me. I grab a stick and chase them around like Parelli. Sometimes even tapping them on the rump. I should make a video and sell that. Well, maybe not. I can always dream. I'm also sometimes a horse of a different breed. In the arena I'm a fabulous show horse. Out on a trail, well, I turn into a high stepping Hackney. Anyways I wanted to drop a line to say Hi and tell you I was enjoyed reading your site. P.S. This picture was when I was only 4 and that pygmy is 8yrs old.

I'm one fired up little filly, I've got a mean mare I share a pasture with. But she's just jealous 'cause I can out run her and I stole her handsome dun of a gelding. I've got an owner who puts me through all kinds of weird stuff! Just this morning the psycho tied a bag to my tail! I really didn't care, I just chill-ax when she shows me this funky stuff. I know I make her proud when I do act that way! She comments about how cute I am and is my pasture buddy when the other two want nothing of me. Mom says I'm gonna be like 16hh, how totally cool is that?!

I live in South Africa! My mommy used to make me do silly things like walk over those blue flappy things of doom, but then she moved over to somewhere called the USA and now she's gone, but I get letters from her! To be honest, I'm an old chap now and quite enjoying having the little kids on board. Y'see, it's far too much fun to let them think you're a safe old plod, then take them by surprise and throw 'em off when they think you're "too easy". Cheers!

I did however, choose to gallop rather than pace-- much faster-- and I could win every time when I gallopped-- and so they sent me to this place where little girls and their mom ride me around a bit. I'm retired to a life of luxury and sharing all the food with all the horses and all the humans.

I live in Canada with my scary Pygmy! I am a bit silly most of time but my pygmy still rides me almost everyday! She never gives up, whats with those pygmys? She is pretty nice to me, she gives me candy and pats and more candy when I put my ears forward! But she makes me work hard and she calls me a fatso! I have do to dressage and jumping. I pretend to be really bad at dressage but really I have done up to middle level dressage but shh don't tell the pygmy! I am terrified of trailers! I hate gettig off of them because there could be monsters waiting to grab me! I scramble off backwards, but you should of heard them yell when I broke the ramp! I didn't get treats for a week! Hi there! I live in Lantzville, B.C., which is just north of Nanaimo, on Vancouver Island, Canada. I have a new owner and her name is Elaine. Lucky for me she is a new rider and a bit of an older gal and I have her wrapped around my hoof. Although, she does know that I tend to put on weight and keeps a good watch on my feeds. She doesn't work me very hard, generally we go on trail rides here and some light ring work.
She thinks I am pretty gorgeous, and she is right. I find that if I cuddle up to her now and then, she will do just about anything I ask, including hitting an apple tree in my paddock so the apples fall down and I can run and get 'em and gobble them up! I am getting way more exercise living here than with my previous owner and life is pretty good!

Hi, I'm Ota and I used to be a Grade A jumper, but now I mostly stand around in this English field.

That's my pal Opa in the background, she let our stallion catch her, so we'll have the patter of tiny hooves soon, but I jumped out of the field. Rest of the time, we watch sky TV for horses, like when the stallion tries to fight the gelding over H pony's twin, the evil A Briar, or when hot air balloons land in the field. I'll give you one of my top tips as it's been so kind of you to share yours...Try pretending that you want to go for a pee when you're being ridden. It will get your rider to stop and stand up in the stirrups. It gives you a nice rest and a blimmin' good laugh too.

Hi Bazzy. Love your site. It is nice to hear about your adventures in OZ and read about all your friends. I live in North Carolina, USA. My girl got me about 4 months ago from Virgina so I guess you can call me a Southern Gentleman of sorts. My girl, my mom and my dad love me to pieces, they say I have a real sense of humor. Well my name is Billy and I although I lost my true man hood a few years ago I still like to think of myself as a Stallion! I had to drop you a line after reading your warnings about all of those scary things!I too feel like everything is out to get me- especially those scrub turkeys! It's a scary world out there. I have a new owner and we are getting on just fine except she keeps making me trot around in circles the way I don't like. I mean come on, do I make her write with her left hand when she is actually right handed? Bloody rude if you ask me. But anyhow, she's a persistant little thing so now the minute she starts swinging that rope around I just follow her lead.

Just wear them down that's my advice. My little trick is to trot the complete opposite way my Dad asks :) If he wants me to go left, I go right and if he wants me to go right, I go left. Mind you I think he sussed what I'm up to because he still has me running both ways. Bugger he's more clever than I thought.

As my name implies, I'm a tough guy. On the outside, at least. Inside I'm all warm puddles of jam. I like to puff myself up and show off for the judges at dressage shows and of course the judges love me. My human loves me lots too because I show her my warm puddly side now and then and let her rub my ears which if I were a cat (and thank heavens I'm not) would make me purr.

Well I am a lovely STB, I used to race when I was younger. I broke my leg during traing. My previous owners had me fixed up...but alas no more racing. So a nice family adopted me. I am learning to ride western and English. I read through your page of scary stuff...and wow I agree...except I have never seen a kangaroo in PEI. However those buggers my humans call horse flys are awful. Why would they name such an awful creature after a horse!! I love to run and roll! I live with a natural horsemanship family...so barefeet for me..and I just love it! Too much fun running free with no gear!

Dad don't do much but take me out riding and work on my softness. Seems these people like JL methods and you know something? I don't mind them either. Sure nicer than having that Bazal with a bolt under my chin! Ouch!!

What I don't understand is why humans think we need to walk in mud puddles when there is perfectly dry dirt to walk on? I dance and prance and spin and try my best to avoid it, but Dad always wins and I end up having to get my feet wet.

My Dad thinks I should be introduced to several things in different areas like going through trees and orchards. Like the trees pictured here. Look how sweaty I am from stressing and thinking something is on the other side of those bushes.

I ride bitless as well and I love it. I went out yesterday for a ride with Dad and he did the same to me. There was this absolute lake in the middle of the track. I think it was at least 40 hands deep. He made me walk through it. Turned out to be only about .1 of a hand and I felt so silly.

Hi - I am a little embarrased about doing this. I never thought I'd find myself being this adventuresome. You see, I'm pretty much a stay at home kinda girl. I like human for the most part. She calls me Zip instead of that stupid name the put on my legal papers. She started this Parelli thing several years ago and once she quit shaking that rope and flogging that stick thingy, she and I became really good friends. I must say that many of things you find scary don't concern me anymore. I learned to just slow down and take life easy and everything quit trying to chase me, kill me or eat me. My rule of thumb is if I think it's going to do me harm - stand on it or sit on it. That usually makes it leave me alone. Hope to meet you one day - you are VERY handsome.

...mmm....I'm Hero and as far as I am concerned I am a stallion no matter what my silly mummy says. When other fluff's ask, im an "obese thoroughbred". My mummy says I'm a....(-thinking-)...Cob! No, how wrong could she be? I do racing! I whip the backsides of those sheep next door! I like to be silly at places mum takes me were theres lots of other fluff's and thire mummy's because its all just so exciting. I LOVE going up in the air clearing objects its so much fun, especially when mummy *splat* on the edible floor.

My mom bought me when I was a 3 year old - I was her first horse - she is a scary novice rider type who likes to use the carrot stick on me too - and to make it worse she quotes Clinton Anderson! You forgot to mention the scary sound a cheetos snack chip bag makes when it opens - those are the official snack food of the horse eating pygmys. I bucked my mom off at a show once when a horse eating pygmy opened a bag of those on the rail. My saddle blanket and boots are hunter green - no sissy colors for Brave Will.

Hi I am Bogart, my mom named me for some dead actor that she really likes. She also calls me Bogie but I like to think of myself as The Spotted Wonder, Superhero among horses. My mom is trying to teach me something that is called Parelli Natural Horsemanship. I laugh and say I already am a natural horse, you are not. It's pretty funny though; she stands out in the arena and waives a funny stick at me trying to get me to do things. I don't care what they say, that stick tastes nothing like a carrot. I have yet to meet any Bags of Death, however I recommend that you stay away from the Yellow Raincoats of Destruction. If you encounter one just run. Run far away and do not return, even if your mom or dad is wearing it...and they have grain.
